It was the winter of 1988, it was silent in the house, too silent, knowing you had 3 younger brothers for the house to be this quiet, you knew they were home, but the door had been left open, and it was like a cold chill flowed up your spine, knowing something wasn’t right. You creeped up the old stair case, creak by creak each step make an eerie noise. You looked into the master bedroom, your parents room, the hinges being shot off the door. As if someone had been in here with it locked, but that hadn’t stopped whoever wanted to get in from getting in. The bed was messed up horrible, dad would never approve, being the neat freak where nothing could be out of place at any time. Something was definitely wrong, the blinds had been all scattered and broken, you saw shoe that had been ripped off a foot, it was your mothers high heels, you saw shattered glass creating what looked like a trail that need to be followed. You followed it, and it lead to the closet, a walk in, exceedingly large for your parents. There you saw clothes on the floor, in a huge pile, and you dared pick them up. To see what was under them, as if something was to be hidden under there. You dared search underneath and you dared, you picked up the clothing one by one, to find the dismembered corpse of your two parents, laying there, breathless. Your eyes started to sting, you tried to fight it off but you couldn’t hold it back any longer, you dropped to your knees and began to ball. Not knowing what had happened or why or who in the world would of done such a cruel deed. Your parents were done, and you didn’t know why, when, or by who. But you were determined to find out.
48 hours later…
You arrived at school, it was a typical Thursday, school starts at 7:30, you get up at 6:05, take a shower, eat breakfast, brush your teeth, and watch TV for twenty minutes until the bus arrives outside your house at 7:00. You sit in the middle of the bus as usual, and talk to your friends on the way to school as usual. A typical beginning to your morning. You arrive at your first hour class, mathematics like normal, and you complete your daily bell work as normal. Everything is just normal. You get through your day fast, a little boring and a little exciting as usual. You get home, complete your homework, eat dinner, read and watch TV before bed time and fall asleep. Hoping to attend the party on Saturday at your best friend’s house, you fall asleep to the thought of the party, and having fun.
24 hours later…
Another routine, same situation, same occurrences in the morning, and same regular day. Everything is normal, but when you return home you discover the tragic scene of your family being slaughtered, by what it seemed like to be two regular sized men, you are confused, who would do this? Why would someone stoop to this level to do this? And why your family’s lives being taken from them? These questions occurred over and over in your head, your stinging eyes burst into tears, and you can’t stop, everyone you hold dear to your heart has been sent to a better place, but you are left behind, alone, why couldn’t I be killed with them? If I had been home maybe I could have stopped them, no, no that wouldn’t of helped, you just would’ve faced the same fate. But the thought of who could of done this had been in your head, never escaping. You called the police as soon as you could collect yourself. They ask the same questions like in the TV shows, what happened, what’s your name, how old are you, what does it seem like happened, are you okay, and I just sent officers to examine the house, I’ll stay on the phone until they arrive.
10 Minutes Later…
Screeches outside your house, the police have arrived, you run outside to at least have some comfort with the officers, you run through the cool white snow crunches as you run through it. The officers grab you, you brace yourself for the questioning but instantly you are dragged into the car, shoved in the back while an officer yells GO GO GO! The car skids out of your driveway and onto the main highway. Roaring at increasing speed over passing the speed limit of 65 miles an hour.
2 Hours Later…
You arrive at a small cottage in the wilderness, the whole lot is hidden by dozen of pine trees. A very discrete location, hidden by the rest of the world, if these people intend on killing you, they surely will have a good chance. Two men open the car door, violently and with force they grab you from the backseat of the fake police car, carrying you into the cottage, not even letting your feet touch the ground. Another man opens up the cabin door, while you are violently thrown in, landing on the hardwood floor with force. From there two new men grab you and carry you down stairs, again not even letting your feet touch the ground. You are brought into a one bed room, small and compact, you are thrown on the floor, not the bed, and left there, with the door locked behind you. Not knowing there is a man hiding in the corner of your room, he comes out and with one brutal punch he knocks you out, then walks out of the room locking the door once again behind him.
8 Hours Later…
You wake up, not knowing what time it is or even where you are. Since there are no windows in your room you are unable to tell what time it is. So you sit down on your bed, simply waiting for whatever what was happening next, to happen.
About 3 and a half Hours Later…
There’s a knock on the door, and it violently swings open, almost snapping off of its hinges. Only one thought is going through your head, is this where you’re about to die? A large man walks into the room, he grabs you , throws you to the side and points a gun to your head, he replies one sentence, “Ready to die?”
With one lash of your foot the gun flies across the room, he hits you in the face, for disobeying him. In the confusion you run out of the room, with these speeds you would of easily made the track team at school, you leave the house with dashing speed, running through the woods dodging every possible obstacle in your way, hurtling every dead limb of trees, you are literally running for your life…
You hear the screeches of the villains getting in their cars, chasing you, one little slip up on your part and you’re easily dead. You break through the woods and on to the main road, you look left, then right, and sprint left. (The way you came from)
The cars are not far behind, exceeding the speed limit easily. You break out your cell phone from your pocket, and dial 911. The officer answers, you scream I’m north in the state, being chased by criminals, and you are avoiding them on foot. The police officers track your SIM card in your phone, and know your exact location, they send three officers to your location, trying to get to you before the criminals do. You jump off the road and into the woods again, laying low near the edge of the road, you see a drain pipe and dive into it, laying down, and hiding from your pursuers. The cars stop, and they chant which ways to go in search for you in the woods. They’re probably about 50 yards away from your location. They jump off each side of the road and start walking. Your breath stops, you see the feet of one of the criminals, they walk right past you searching under every little thing, you are almost 100% sure you will be found, but five minutes pass, ten minutes, 25 minutes go by and you are not found. You may actually make it out of this alive.
You hear more screeches and suddenly put your hands up is shouted, the sounds of guns cocking makes you almost cry in joy, for the police officers have found you, and you will actually make it out of this alive. You run out from your hiding spot and leap into the police car, so happy to be alive through all of this chaos. You are driven home and all of the people who captured you were arrested, you are truly safe and you live with your grandparents for the rest of your life, you are finally safe…
