Short Creative Story. He quickly crossed to the other side of the street, hoping they would not notice him.

It was the middle of the night, and the overweight Mr. Howard was laying in his bed, motionless, too unwilling to get up, unaware of what was taking place outside his small condo in the southern part of Wisconsin. The dark figure in the distance, he quickly crossed to the other side of the street, hoping they would not notice him. The man had just escaped from prison, his bright orange jump suit shining in the traffic lights of the busy highway. He was running, hearing noises in his head, knowing he would eventually be caught by the police if he did not hurry and change his clothes, and find a place to hide. Just like any other criminal he was desperate, and it just so happens that the place he was about to hide in, was Mr. Howard’s condo, him sleeping in his bed not knowing what was going on in the outside world. Not knowing what was about to happen would more than likely end his life, terminating his presence on the planet Earth, turning to dust in the wind.
Mr. Howard heard a thud, the door slammed open three seconds later, and the criminal ran into the room with his orange jump suit showing in the summer darkness. The criminal jumped on Mr. Howard’s bed, and then the battle was over, the criminal’s large hands gripped the man’s throat too hard, and killed him within 15 seconds, taking his final breath in agony. The criminal pushed Mr. Howard under the bed, and looked through his closet for some possible clothes to change into. He found some baggy jeans that he could wear, and a thick long sleeved sweater to wear, along with some new shoes then the blister causing black prison boots.
He had to make a break for it, the criminal ran out of the door, only to be almost deaf with the sound of police sirens filling the air. He had been surrounded in the middle of the condo parking lot, and he was arrested and put on trial for escape of prison, and for murder. It had all ended in the parking lot of the condo, the condo of the overweight unmarried man, Mr. Howard.

  1. I have such sympathy for Mr. Howard; this reminds me of Truman Capote's book, In Cold Blood, the story of an entire family who found themselves in Mr. Howard's position.

Some of your phrases are very memorable: "the summer darkness," "the blister causing black prison boots." Keep playing with your descriptions; these are your strengths.
